Revenue from tourism declined 1.7% in February, but total receipts during the first two months show a moderate increase compared to the sharp decline in number of arrivals.
Revenue from tourism reached CYP 23.1 mln in February 2006 compared to CYP 23.5 mln in the corresponding month of the previous year, recording a decrease of 1.7%. This was a better performance compared to the number of arrivals, which during February 2006 fell 8% year-on-year to 66.151.
For the period January - February 2006 revenue from tourism is estimated at CYP 44.3 mln compared to CYP 44.2 mln in the corresponding period of 2005, recording an increase of 0.2%, the Statistics Department announced. This is still better than the 8% decline in number of arrivals during the first two months of the year. |
